Action from the SUCA Champs last year at Grangemouth
Aberdeen is the venue this Saturday for the Scottish University and College Athletics (SUCA) championships.
The event is open to all current university and college students (plus those who graduated within the past 12 months) of all abilities. There is a full programme of track and field events with medals for the first three students in each event.
Entry fees are £8.50 per event and student athletes can enter on the day. Guest entries are also available at £10 per event. For more details contact the SUCA secretary at sua2011@hotmail.co.uk
This Saturday’s competition is the main selection match for the International match against Irish Universities on the 28 May 2016 – with this year the fixture being held in Kilmarnock.
It will be two athletes per event for the Scottish team for that match and the event winners on Saturday are guaranteed selection for a place at Kilmarnock.

*On the subject of student athletes, great to find this short video material created by Edinburgh University AC.
Produced and directed by student Sandesh Pal, the film looks at the club and the dedication required to marry up athletics with education.
The blurb adds: ‘This video gives an insight into the tough work put by in by the student athletes including their coach and how they balance their heavy course work on top of this. Also showing the club in competition and their impressive yet realistic high goals for the future. Directed, produced and edited by Sandesh Pal
‘Thanks to all my crew, Bobbi Mackenzie, Jamie Smith, Steven Gaffney, Graham Miller and Sunny Pal.Thanks to captain James Morehen, Anna Nelson, coach Bill Walker and all those at the Edinburgh University Athletics Club.’
