Enter the Short Course XC Champs
The scottishathletics Short Course Championships are coming up early next month – and we are looking for entries now from clubs.
Bellahouston has been the venue in recent years but for 2016 we’ve moved only a couple of miles west to flat grass parkland at Broadloan, Renfrew.
Saturday 5 November is the date for the event, the second in the Lindsays Cross Country Season following on from the National XC Relays in Cumbernauld.
Entries are open now for clubs across the two age groups U15 Boys and U15 Girls and U17 Men and U17 Women as well as the U20/Senior races for Men and Women. Masters run in the U20/Senior races with individual and team medals therein for Masters Men and Women.
The races are over 2.5K for the two age groups and then for 4K for the U20/Senior races. Entries will close on Monday 24 October.
Andrew Butchart and Alastair Hay went 1-2 for Central AC last year
The roll of honour in recent years has includes some of Scotland’s very best endurance athletes including Olympians like Andrew Butchart and Laura Muir, while the likes of Maddie Murray and Rhona Auckland have also in the past used medals at Bellahouston as a stepping stone towards team and individual success at the Euro Cross.
With the Euro Cross trials in Liverpool some three weeks later, we hope Renfrew provides a good preparation event for that British Cross Challenge fixture as well as being an exciting and competitive Scottish championship in itself.
*The weather wasn’t the best in 2015 – but Gordon Curran’s superb video piece captures the atmosphere and proves it didn’t dampen spirits (too much) at Bellahouston.
Clubs should enter using the forms on the Events section page.
PLEASE POST RENFREW ENTRIES OFF TO:
