Make the leap – action from Scottish Schools 2014: photo by Bobby Gavin
Hampden Park was the venue for the Scottish Schools Track and Field finals for Secondary School pupils in June last year.
Now the same track from the National Stadium will play host to the 2015 event with Grangemouth’s redeveloped surface the venue.
Friday and Saturday action is in store with hundreds of youngsters from the length and breadth of Scotland on the entry-lists for what is always an eagerly-awaited event by athletes, teachers, parents and officials.
As always, there are two hectic programmes in store and we’ve published the timetable here for both days and the start-lists. Remember, it could be that your event will take place as a final at the heat time, depending on declarations.
(On Saturday – please note the Girls C 1500m is at 2.55pm and NOT the 3.55pm that is listed. It is at 2.55pm with the other 1500 races for then.)
There is more detail and important information on the Scottish Schools Athletics Association website.
And that’s also the place to check out Championship best performances from the past – with hopefully some of those marks set to fall over the weekend to the Class of 2015.
Good luck to all involved in the Scottish Schools and thanks, in advance, to our scottishathletics officials who are once again preparing for long shifts. Athletics wouldn’t function without these volunteers.
* Bobby Gavin took some fantastic photographs at the 2014 event at Hampden and he’s back on duty again this weekend!
And, remember, Scotland are this year hosting the SIAB track and field international in July so there are places up for grabs there in one of the age-groups – Group B. The first three placed in events in that age-group will be asked to fill out availability forms for July 18.
