Scots picked for World Trail Champs

Monday 26th January 2015

Three Scottish athletes have been named by British Athletics for the IAU World Trail Championships in France later this year.

GB and NI will send six men and six women to the event in Annecy on Saturday 30 May with hopes high for strong performances.

And there will be GB vests now for Scottish trio Paul Giblin, Tom Owens and Paul Raistrick after they were each named in the six-strong men’s selection.

Giblin, who is from Paisley, represented GB at the World 100k champs in Doha late last year and finished 11th. Owens and Raistrick are athletes with Shettleston Harriers and Inverness Harriers respectively.

‘I was delighted to be selected for the World ultra trail champs and hope to build on my second West Highland Way race success of last year,’ said Paul.

‘I’m excited about the race and about playing my part in what is a very strong GB team. Taking a team bronze at the World 100K in Doha last year was fantastic and I think we have the talent and experience to push for more medals on the trails.’

The media announcement is on the British Athletics website
