Two young Scots will land their first GB and NI vests at the inaugural European Youth Championships.
The event will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 14-17 July and there are call-ups for Alisha Rees and Erin Wallace – two emerging talents from the scottishathletics National Academy – within the 33-strong lineup.
Banchory Stonehaven athlete Rees, who recently joined Edinburgh AC for league action, is named as the sole British runner for the Women’s 200m event.
Alisha recently won two medals at the England Athletics U20 Champs and set a Scottish U20 record in the 100m in Bedford and, of course, was a double medallist last year at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa.

And Giffnock North AC middle distance runner Wallace is selected for the 1500m alongside English athlete, Sabrina Sinha, with those two currently ranked 1-2 in Europe.
Alisha is coached by Willy Russell and Erin by Dudley Walker and scottishathletics firmly congratulates both athletes, their families and their coaches on the selection.
Team leader Scott Grace said: ‘The British team are really looking forward to mixing it with the best in Europe next month.
‘It is a great opportunity for the athletes chosen to make a real impression on the international stage and I’m confident that with the strength in depth, we can deliver some really strong performances out in Tbilisi.

*Cameron Tindle represented GB and NI in Mannheim, Germany, over the weekend and came up with a legal PB for 200m of 20.82.
That was inside the qualifying standard for the World Juniors, with the full team for that event in Poland yet to be announced. It also takes Cameron to second on the Scottish all-time list for U20.
