Earn a Scotland vest for Ireland

Saturday 15th November 2014

Scotland vest

Scotland will send cross country teams to the Celtic Nations International in the New Year.

And the date and venue has now been confirmed as Sunday 18 January by Ireland, who are the host nation for the event this year.

The races will coincide with the Leinster XC Champs and will take place in Dunboyne, County Meath.

Up to 24 Scottish athletes will be selected for men’s and women’s teams across three age-groups – U17, U20 and U23.  Teams of four are involved in each age group.

Scotland take on Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland in the event and last year it was in Antrim, coinciding with the (then) British XC Challenge event. In 2015, it follows a week after the Scottish Inter-District races at the Edinburgh Cross Country.

All the details on this are on our Road Running and Cross Country selection policy and athletes and coaches should note the age groups are slightly different from those in operation in Scottish domestic events.

With the Selection Date listed as December 9, performances this autumn and in particular at the District Champs (and Liverpool for those involved) will be used when assessing selections.

If you wish to, please keep Mark Pollard up-dated on any issues such as fitness over the next few weeks. Mark’s email is mark.pollard@scottishathletics.org.uk
