National Coach Development Programme
scottishathletics are pleased to confirm a series of network sessions for invited coaches – geared towards sharing good practice and exchanging ideas.
The inaugural sessions took place in Glasgow last month as a number of Scotland’s top coaches met together to discuss and share their experiences and expertise in coaching and athletics.
scottishathletics have set-up the coach network for like-minded coaches who are working, or have worked with, performance athletes in their event. Last month, coaches operating at a high level in Scotland and in the UK in their respective event were invited to the coach network sessions in Glasgow.
The concept around the coach networks is for coaches to discuss, share knowledge and their experiences around a topic that is related to their event/event group; thus creating a constructive learning environment for all.
It is now intended to host a minimum of three coach network events over the winter period – around mid-October, end of January and the end of March.
The first sessions were hosted by England Athletics National Coach Mentor for speed, Tony Hadley; British Athletics Head of Field, Peter Stanley; British Athletics National Performance Institute Coach for throws, David Parker and Scottish endurance coach, Mike Johnston.
