Clubs: we don’t want it to be an uphill battle to modernise . . .
scottishathletics have this week formalised an arrangement with Fife Voluntary Action to supply support services to clubs on an on-going basis.
The expert team at FVA will provide support on a number of topics such as: club management; business planning and strategic development; risk management; club governance and legal structures; accounting and financial management (including Gift Aid and paid staffing structures) ; administration; development and coaching and legal implications.
The support follows other recent arrangements with GB Sport (providing an eight-hour club helpline amongst other areas) and BDO (employment law/tax).
scottishathletics launch Club 20: 20 project
Mark Munro, Head of Development was pleased with the announcement this week, which is linked to the Club Modernisation programme launched recently.
‘As some clubs will be aware we have been working with Alan Fowler at FVA for some time,’ said Mark.
‘He has been providing expert legal advice and governance support to a number of clubs within the Club Together programme and was involved in our Leadership Conference at Hampden last October.
‘We have now secured a more structured and formal arrangement with Alan and his colleagues at FVA to continue to expand support to athletics club across a number of areas, particularly those clubs involved in the upcoming modernisation project (Club 20:20).
‘This is another positive step forward for continued focus and support to athletics clubs in Scotland.’
