Round-up: BUCS, Armagh, Coach Course

Monday 23rd February 2015

Aberdeen athlete Zoey Clark was in fine form at the British Universities indoor championships at Sheffield over last weekend.

The Team Scotland 400m runner, who raced in the relay at Hampden, won gold in the 200m final on Sunday and a bronze in the 60m on the Friday.

Clark clocked a PB of 7.52 in the 60m semi-final and then came up with 7.53 in the final. In the 200m final, it was a Scottish 1-2 with Zoey winning the gold in 24.05 from Beth Dobbin, with the Edinburgh AC athlete at 24.08 to claim silver.

Zoey was not the only Scottish gold medallist with Giffnock North AAC athlete, Nikki Manson, winning the women’s high jump with a 1.78m clearance. There were two other bronze medals – as Faye Nicholson picked up third in the long jump with 5.78m and pole vaulter Sam Adams went over 4.90m to continue his fine indoor season.

Well done to all the athletes, coaches and in this instance their universities who competed at BUCS.

(Thank you to those who alerted us to some of these performances via scottishathletics social media. It is massive assistance for us and is appreciated, particularly during a hectic weekend featuring a National championship and elite Grand Prix).

Kilbarchan AAC ‘s Derek Hawkins was in a spectator’s role at the National XC on Sunday following a very fine 5k road run in Ireland last week.

The GB international took on the Armagh International Road Race and finished at 14.06.16 for 8th place on Thursday night.
