Do you want to run for Scotland? Or indeed Team GB and NI? Thought so.
But do you know what the opportunities to do so are; the races and events which will primarly count in the selection process; and if you are eligible for international duty?
It is all now logged on this website for Road Running and Cross Country for the 2014-15 season.
The list of relevant events is important information for athletes, coaches, clubs and parents and can be checked out on our page of ‘Selection Policies’.
Details on eligibility can also be found on this website.
In terms of cross country; there are Scotland selections for a series of races over the coming winter and those include: Liverpool (The European trial) on November 29; the Celtic Nations in Ireland (TBC); Inter-Districts in Edinburgh on January 10; XC Challenge in Milton Keynes on February 7; Inter-Counties in Birmingham on March 7 and the Home Countries in Antrim on March 14.
In terms of road running, Scotland send teams to the London Mini Marathon in two age groups and that takes place in 2015 on Sunday 26 April.
There are various issues connected to selection, all of which are laid out in the policy.
It is worth noting that only athletes who are deemed who will benefit from the standard of competition at a particular event will be selected and the selection committee has the discretion to leave places empty if necessary.
We should stress, however, scottishathletics are very keen indeed to see you represent Scotland or Team GB and – for this programme to be successful – it is absolutely vital that athletes and coaches participate in the programme and plan their season accordingly.
Contact Mark Pollard on mark.pollard@scottishathletics.org.uk if you have queries or if indeed you want to keep the selectors fully informed of availability, results, injuries, training progress.
