It was another busy weekend for Scottish athletes and clubs in various locations, with the cross country season in full swing.

We’ve pulled together a few highlights here as worthy of attention and links to sets of Results (mainly provisional at this stage).

Please do accept our apologies if we have missed a significant performance, with the intention here being merely to flag-up as best we can a number of events.

Let’s start in Indiana . . .

There was a very fine performance by Luke Traynor in America to finish in 13th place at the NCAA Division One XC Champs for 2016.

That’s a huge event by any measurement, particularly in terms of depth of quality, and the Tulsa Uni and Giffnock North AAC athlete has had a good season, including winning the Midwest Regional title.

Catriona Graves – Unis silver and a Scotland U23 vest in Liverpool this weekend

The Scottish Unis and Colleges gathered at Craigmillar in Edinburgh to stage their annual cross country championships.

Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds duly took the win in both the men’s and women’s team races to claim the overall trophy.

Fife AC athlete Logan Rees gave Edinburgh Uni an individual gold in the men’s race as he won it from Fergus Roberts (Stirling) and Alex Carcas (Edinburgh).

In the women’s race, there was a gold for Central AC athlete Fanni Gyurko of Glasgow Univeristy as she won it from Catriona Graves (Edinburgh). Eve Mackinnon (Edinburgh) won the bronze.

The East League continues to be a huge draw for clubs, coaches and athletes and there was another successful meeting at Alloa on Saturday.

No fewer than 844 finishers completed races, with records in some categories, even if the overall tally was just shy of last year’s record fields (864).

Thanks to all those involved in the event and also in pulling together the provisional Results.

These are now hosted on the Road Running and Cross Country Commission website.

Cambuslang Harriers took a strong M55 team south to the British Masters XC Relays at Long Eaton – and they duly landed gold medals in the age group.

Colin Donnelly came up with the fastest run of the day in that category and he was supported by Frank Hurley, Paul Thompson and Dave Thom in the winning Cambuslang team.
