Website report on 2015 event

The Scottish Mid-Trail Champs are being held on Saturday 27 August in Fife – with more that 150 names on the entry lists.

Fife AC have kindly agreed to host the championships, with Strathmiglo as the start/finish location for races for all age groups. There are medals on offer from U15 through to U20/Seniors/Masters.

The Senior races are contested by men and women, in the same race, over a distance of around 12K.  The U15 and U17 mixed gender races are over 5K. For the U11 and U13 races, the distance is 3K.

We are already seeing entries from host club Fife AC, Cumbernauld AAC, Hunters Bog Trotters, Dundee Road Runners, Cambuslang, Forfar, Edinburgh Uni Hares and Hounds, Carnethy, Giffnock North AAC, Shettleston, Lomond Hill Runners and Garscube Harriers.

There are U11 and U13 development races, too, but these are not part of the Scottish Championships as Fife AC host their ‘Festival of Trail Running’ and welcome all standard of athletes from beginners in this discipline to Scotland internationals.

Entries remain open online via the EntryCentral website until Friday and the link here also takes you to key info for Saturday: https://www.entrycentral.com/FAC-Festival-of-Trail-Running

Bedford is the place to be for a number of Scots this weekend as England Athletics stage their final track and field champs of the season – the U17 and U15 and Disability Age Group Athletics Championships.

This is always an event where many athletes seek to test themselves against the best in Britain and over a thousand individuals have entered, and many of these are hoping to retain their 2015 titles, progress up the national rankings or have moved up an age group and aim to achieve at the U17 level.

The U15 events are set to provide great competition; in the girls’ events, the number one UK ranked athlete has entered all but one event..

Preview piece online on the England Athletics website has a link to all the start-lists

Good luck to all the Scottish athletes and coaches and parents who are making the trip south.
