Friday 13th May 2016

Club 20:20 Modernisation Project

As the end of the first year of the scottishathletics Club 20:20 projects approaches, we’re pleased to announce that seven new clubs have been added to the existing group of 25 clubs for the year ahead.

The new additions are: Gala Harriers, Chirnside Chasers, Cumbernauld AAC, Nairn AAAC, Caithness AAC, Motherwell AC and Bellahoustoun Harriers.

The purpose of this project is to work with athletics clubs in Scotland that are proactive in their development, to help them to modernise, reflecting best practice around governance, development and delivery – ultimately implementing business models and practices within their club.

It provides a programme of bespoke support to club leaders to help learn about, and develop, the tools and skills needed to develop and sustain a thriving athletics club.

Mark Munro, Head of Development, is very positive about the club projects moving forwards.

‘We have established some good support tools for clubs recently including the new software for planning, bookkeeping and online training modules for club leaders, alongside on the ground support from external experts and a series of workshops and webinars for clubs,’ said Mark.

‘These developments coupled with the existing Club Together Programme (direct financial investment into roles in clubs), the new Club Leaders Academy and new online resource guides, will all prove extremely valuable to club leaders in all athletics clubs.

‘We must also thank our delivery partners, GBSport and Alan Fowler, for their on-going support as we continue to evolve and shape the programmes and resources moving forwards.’

The existing clubs in the programme are:

Aberdeen AAC, Ayr Seaforth AC, Bellahouston Road Runners, Central AC, Kilmarnock Harriers & AC, Edinburgh AC, Falkirk Victoria Harriers, Fife AC, Garscube Harriers, Giffnock North AAC, Helensburgh AAC, Inverclyde AC, Kilbarchan AAC, Lasswade AC, Law & District AAC, Livingston AC, North Ayrshire AC, Orkney AC, Pitreavie AAC, Shetland AAC, Shettleston Harriers, Springburn Harriers, Team East Lothian, Victoria Park City of Glasgow AC, Whitemoss AAC
