There is a hectic weekend ahead for all at scottishathletics at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow with a series of key meetings taking place as well as the Coaching Conference.
It will be all about engagement with our clubs and education and development for our coaches over the next few days.
Important information around the Annual General Meeting on Saturday such as agenda and the Annual Report are online on this site, while those delegates attending the Coaching Conference can check the timetable within the Conference brochure, also in a previous story.
On Friday evening, international coaches Boo Schexnayder and Jonas Tawiah-Dodoo will deliver practical coaching masterclasses to invited athletes and coaches at the Emirates Arena.
Also on Friday evening at the same venue there will also be a gathering of the national Club Together Officers with updates from scottishathletics staff plus the sharing of good practice in club development work.
Saturday morning will see the Annual General Meeting and the Coaching Conference Day One also kicks off that morning, with 17 international coaches providing a series seminar, lectures and practical workshops to over 200 Scottish and international coaches.
scottishathletics staff will also be launching the new national coach development programme and providing new resources during the conference weekend.
Sunday will witness Day Two of the Coaching Conference continuing, as well as a Business Planning Day for those clubs involved in the Club 20:20 modernisation project which will see 24 clubs supported with 40 club leaders in attendance.
Chief executive Nigel Holl said: ‘Firstly, let me thank in advance all those who have signed-up to attend the Coaching Conference or who are planning to come along to the AGM.
‘We appreciate the support and backing and firmly believe the Coaching Conference lineup will work for those coaching in Scotland to improve their skills and help develop their athletes.
‘Last weekend, in a news sense, was all about our Hill Runners and how successful they were at the World Mountain Running Champsand the Junior Home international.
‘Now we move ‘seamlessly’ into a vital weekend for coaches and development and, of course, for our governance with our AGM.
‘The Emirates will be a busy place . . . and whilst the Coaching Conference presentations will be more entertaining than my Annual Report presentation, they are all important!
‘Above all else, I believe the weekend is another example of the family of athletics in Scotland meeting up together – focusing on different things maybe, but I’m sure there will be a very positive feeling of togetherness and working together.
‘I very much look forward to seeing so many key people in Glasgow over the weekend.’
*If you are attending the Coaching Conference, please note Celtic are at home with a 3pm kick-off which may affect your travel when leaving. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
