Grangemouth. Perth. Kilmarnock. Livingston. Aberdeen. Just some of the locations for forthcoming Coach Education courses on offer from scottishathletics.
We believe it is fundamental to the growth of the sport in this country that more people either start out on their coaching journey or indeed progress with their qualifications.
Coaching Assistant courses are the first starting point for anyone interested in getting involved and we have a series of course for that lined up through September, October, November and December at venues such as those listed.
It is a two-day course which costs £150 and we’d love to see clubs supporting these courses.
There are also ‘Athletics Coach’ and ‘Coach in Running Fitness’ courses coming up in the autumn, too, at places like the Aberdeen Sports Village , Craigswood in Livingston and the Ayrshire Athletics Arena in Kilmarnock.
Courses are easy to book online on this website and all the forthcoming dates and venues are listed.

Good conditions and the new Crownpoint track were the recipe for the fastest time by an U15 boy over 800m in Scotland this year on Tuesday evening at the Open Graded meeting hosted by Shettleston Harriers.
Kilbarchan’s David McNair (2.05.03) was one of a number of boys who ran PB performances in this Derek McLean Trophy race to remember a young Shettleston athletes who died from cancer.
The last winner of the event was Ben Greenwood of Perth who has gone on to perform at the highest standard. In second position was Lewis Pentecost of Falkirk who had won the Scottish 1500m title on Sunday ( 2.06.70) just holding off Jamie Burns of Shettleston ( 2.06.95 PB)
The second of two events at the new Crownpoint track was a great success for the host club with nearly 600 athletes competing over two nights .This continues the surge in athletics post-Glasgow 2014 and of course the investment by Glasgow City Council in the venue.
These meetings cannot go ahead without the help of officials and the club is especially grateful to Vic and Pat Hockley who set up the electronic timing system for the first time at Crownpoint.
Results from both meetings are on the Shettleston website
With thanks to John Mackay
