Edinburgh AC land U20 Inter-Club title

Saturday 3rd September 2016

Howard Bell helped Edinburgh AC to overall U20 success

The Scottish Senior and Age Group Champs at Grangemouth once again featured an Inter-Club Competition – for overall points and across four Event Groups.

And we’re pleased now to reveal the Scottish U20 age group tallies, with thanks to scotstats.net statistician Arnold Black for all his assistance in scoring the events.

In a contest which saw the top two clubs separated by just 14 points, Edinburgh AC took the overall title from VP-Glasgow. That reversed last year’s competition (when the Glasgow club triumphed by 43 points)

Edinburgh won the Sprints and the Throws, with Kilbarchan AAC amassing the most points in Endurance and Pitreavie AAC out in front in the Jumps. Edinburgh and VP-Glasgow were in the top four in all four Event Group tables.

Here are the tallies with last year’s position in brackets

OVERALL

1 (2) Edinburgh AC 7019;  2 (1) VP-Glasgow AC 7005; 3 (4) Kilbarchan AAC 6636; 4 (5) Pitreavie AAC 6617; 5 (3) Giffnock North AAC 6092

Edinburgh AC also celebrated a win in the U13 Inter-Club Competition.

The U13s is an overall tally rather than split between the specialist groups. Last year’s winners, Pitreavie AAC, failed to make the top five with Edinburgh and Giffnock North moving up one place. Central moved up from 10th and VP-Glasgow did not even feature in the top 20 last year.

1 (2) Edinburgh AC 2748;  2 (3) Giffnock North AAC 2703; 3 (-) VP-Glasgow AC 2611; 4 (10) Central AC 2531; 5 (6) Falkirk Victoria Harriers 2212

*We will add the U15 details when those tallies have been completed.

Thanks, once again, to Arnold Black for sterling work on this project, which is hopefully beneficial for clubs and coaches.
