The 5k Champs are the next event in the scottishathletics Road Race Grand Prix series on Wednesday 7 May.
Silverknowes in Edinburgh is once again the venue and the race, organised by Run and Become’s Adrian Stott and the Road Running and Cross Country Commission, is great for anyone wanting to test themselves over the distance as a ‘one-off’.
What is remarkable is that the race has been won in exactly the same time for each of the past three years ñ Chris MacKay (Inverclyde), Ross Houston (Central) and Andrew Butchart (Central) have each been recorded at 14.35.
Can someone beat that this time around?
Kilbarchan’s Elspeth Curran won the women’s race in 2013 with a run of 16.17 in an event which has a great reputation for delivering PB performances on a flat course.
We are looking for entries now and to do so for the evening race on Wednesday 7 May follow the link here:

And you can read a blog post from Adrian on this website about how the depth of quality in the race means it can lay claim to the title ‘Best 5k Race in Britain’.
