Record Women’s entry for Masters XC

Garscube’s Lesley Chisholm won her first Masters XC title last year and is on list for Forres

Forres is the venue for the Scottish Masters XC event on Saturday.

And we’re delighted to confirm there has been a significant entry once again for a scottishathletics National event – with a record Women’s field on the start-lists for this year’s events.

With not far short of 400 names in total – 117 Women and 259 Men – we’d like to thank all athletes, coaches and clubs involved in committing to the Masters XC. North clubs, in particular, have rallied round and make these the biggest fields for the fourth visit to Forres.

Here’s a message from the host club Forres Harriers:

‘This will be the fourth time Forres Harriers has staged this event and as in previous years we hope you all, whether a competitor or spectator, enjoy your time here in Forres.

‘Grant Park is an ideal setting and the course, although testing, is fair and has sections to suit all. It is a spectator friendly course and the runners will enjoy welcome encouragement.

‘Medal presentation and refreshments will be in the Town hall and all athletes, spectators and travelling support are invited to attend and enjoy the hospitality offered by Forres Harriers.

‘Registration, Changing and Showers: Forres House Community Centre. Presentation and Post Race Refreshments: Forres Town Hall.

‘Course: The course is multi-terrain with grass, woodland path and a very short piece of Tarmac road to be negotiated. It is recommended that athletes wear studs, or if you are going to use spikes please make sure that the spikes you use are very short.’
