scottishathletics and our Road Running and Cross Country Commission are pleased to announce another international opportunity in road racing.
The Armagh International Road Race has developed a growing reputation in recent years and is now acknowledged as one of the best such events in the British Isles.
Races are over 5K for Men and 3K for Women and the 26th edition of the event takes place in Armagh on Thursday 18 February 2016.
And we’re delighted to confirm that Scotland plans to send teams of four men and four women to the event as an international competition opportunity, and this is in addition to those events already listed in the overall RR and CC Selection document.
This has come about following recent discussions with the race organisers and we are grateful for the assistance on this from Brian Vallely and Armagh International Road Race.
Performance Manager, Mark Pollard, is now therefore looking for expressions of interest from Men and Women keen to be considered for selection for Armagh.
The Scottish 3000m Champs on Sunday 3 January at the Emirates Arena offer a good chance to show form ahead of the selection decisions – particularly for the women given it is over the same distance. Enter the 3000m Champs via the British Milers Club website
Scotland selections for the Armagh Road Race will be made on Monday 4 January following that event with those picked then being given time to prepare for February 18.
So please email expressions of interest to mark.pollard@scottishathletics.org.uk by December 28. Thanks.
